Description
Children often view poetry like spinach – smelly, mushy, and gross. But spinach is actually beautiful, delicious, and nutritious. A lot depends on how it is served. The same is true of poetry.
By shaking loose traditional poetic forms and focusing on descriptive vocabulary, poetry becomes not only accessible, but fun. Yes, fun! Really!
I can’t guarantee results with spinach, but many self-proclaimed poetry haters have left my workshops with a new perspective on poetry. Some even choose to write poetry on their own!
This workshop will:
- Tap into your child’s imagination
- Draw out the vocabulary your child already has – we all know far more words than we use in our daily speech and writing
- Guide your child to stylize descriptive words into poems
